Greetings and salutations reader, weclome to becauseicantpaint.

So apparently a blog should convey my personal thoughts and opinions and, ideally, it should also be honest. That being the case I guess I should probably begin by noting how much I hate the idea of blogging.  So why am I doing it I hear you ask? (my ego already thinks you are reading and care).  The answer is simple; I’m required to do so as part of a Degree in Photographic Media that I have just commenced at Griffith College Dublin.

So a little about me before we get down to business.  I’m 37 years old and live and work in Dublin, Ireland.  I’m an Aries (for those of you who care, I don’t),  single with no kids, I don’t even have a  plant that I’m struggling to keep alive.  I’ve been fortunate enough to live in Dublin, Belfast, LA, Chicago and NYC and to have travelled quite a bit outside of that. I first picked up a camera seriously four years ago and while it has since become my primary hobby this is my first attempt to study photography formally.

Luckily this blog won’t be about me but rather it will primarily focus on the photographic ideas, principles, techniques, photographers and writers I encounter during my degree.
